What is Entertaiment?

Entertaiment is an activity that entertains, amuses or diverts Consciousness. It includes everything from an individual choosing entertainment from a variety of media, to a dinner party with entertainment provided by a professional chef or musician, to performances that are designed for thousands and even for global audiences. The familiar themes, images and structures of entertainment can cross over and inspire creative remix in different mediums – for example, the story of Scheherazade has inspired three orchestral works by composers Rimsky-Korsakov, Ravel and Szymanowski, a film by Pasolini and an innovative video game. Entertainment is an essential part of children’s play and development.
