What is Entertaiment?

Article about Entertaiment

The term entertainment is used to describe activities that people engage in for enjoyment and relaxation. This may include watching movies, television shows, or sports; listening to music; reading books or poetry; playing video games or board games; and creating or appreciating visual art. Entertaiment may also refer to live performances such as theater, dance, or comedy shows.

The word entertainment is derived from the Medieval Latin intertenere, or “hold inside.” Its Indo-European root is ten, meaning to stretch. Many forms of entertainment touch on themes that the human brain was evolved to deeply understand in order to function and survive in a social world.
